Alistair Williams answers 10 Edinburgh Fringe Questions
Alistair Williams has teamed up with Edd Hedges to put on The Late Show at this year's festival. He answers our ten questions below...
1. Tell us about your career so far. Are you happy with where you're at?
I started comedy in 2013 instead of being the guy that works in media sales and spends all day trying to make people laugh. (I still work in media sales) (kill me)
2. Describe your show in exactly 23 words.
It's me and my good buddy Edd talking about what we find funny. I bet most people just repeated funny 23 times.
3. Why are you putting yourself through this famously stressful experience?
I find comedy is only stressful if you're horrendous at it. Unless the guys from Chortle come in to review you when only 3 punters show up. In that case it is stressful and you should feign injury or bayonet yourself in the leg.
4. Any cunning plans to get more punters in?
Word of mouth / intimidation/ hired goons.
5. How much money do you think you'll lose/make this year?
I actually broke even last year. I realise that doesn't answer your question but I have literally 4 weeks left to mention that so I'm going out in style.
6. What's your weirdest past Fringe experience?
Last year was my first year and nothing weird happened. I think I did it wrong.
7. What other shows are you hoping to see?
Everything besides Jurassic World again at the cinema. Did you guys see that? So bad. Our show will be better than that and our CGI budget was like 20% lower.
8. If you took over programming a venue, what would you perfect line-up of comedians be?
Just Bill Burr for like 176 hours.
9. Name the one person you'd rather not bump into during the festival.
The guy who directed Jurassic World because I just slagged him right off. If indeed it did have a director which seems unlikely at this point.
10. Why should audiences pick your show over the 1,700+ other comedy offerings at this year's festival?
In case this happens:
"Hey what was Alistair Williams' show like at the festival this year?"
"I don't know, I didn't see that one."
"Wow, what an awful decision, is that when your life started to fall apart?"
"Yes. Yes it was."
'Alistair Williams and Edd Hedges - The Late Show' is at 11:45pm at Cowgatehead on 18-30 August. Listing
