The Umbilical Brothers make a welcome return to this year's Fringe after an absence of nine years. The legendary Australian duo are set to mark their return with a brand new show, and it's a KiDSHoW! Laced with mature themes, violence, frequent course language... and time permitting, face-painting! Your inner child will never be the same again. 'Dark, twisted and undeniably funny ... an absolute triumph' (UnderTheGunReview.net).

Preview: Edinburgh's returning heroes

The Edinburgh Fringe is not all about young kids flying straight out of the womb and onto the stage. There are plenty of more, how shall we put it, experienced performers who have been around the block a bit and seen a bit of life.

The Umbilical Brothers make a welcome return to this year's Edinburgh Festival after an absence of 9 years! The legendary Australian duo are back and set to mark their return with a brand new show...entitled Kids Show (not for Kids)! However, this is one that is certainly not for children. It will be laced with mature themes, violence, frequent coarse language and time permitting, face-painting!

The Umbilical Brothers have been performing a unique brand of comedy on stage and TV around the world for over twenty years. Since meeting as theatre students at the University of Western Sydney, they've visited the Edinburgh Fringe and Melbourne Comedy Festival numerous times to critical and audience acclaim; played for a year in New York; toured with Robin Williams; created and starred in the award-winning Sesame/Nickelodeon children's comedy series The Upside Down Show; depicted Gone With The Wind in less than 2 minutes; won the Grand Prix at the Tokyo International Comedy Festival; and played the Woodstock Festival in front of 100,000 confused spectators. Oh, and they have also performed for David Letterman and the Queen.

With their accolades and performance history alone, KiDSHoW is surely not to be missed. With the best intentions in the world, children's entertainers Dane (David) and Shavid (Shane) come onstage to perform a fun show for the kids, with singing, dancing, audience participation and storytelling. Unfortunately the audience is made up of nothing but adults - and if there's one thing adults don't want to see...it's a kid's show!

The show itself has been created out of the wealth of experience they have in children's entertainment; setting out to create a 'kids' show... for adults! After they did a year off Broadway in New York, the producers of Sesame Street approached them about Kids' TV. As a result they created and starred in the award-winning Nickelodeon/Sesame Workshop series The Upside Down Show. This inspired them to create a wildly inappropriate version of kids' entertainment, a show that starts with good intentions, and ends in a very, very different place.
