Every year the Grandees develop more and more of a cult following as they are praised by audiences and critics alike for their originality, energy and freshness of comedic talent. This year, Marny Godden, Tom Turner and Andrew Mudie, present BaBOOM!, bringing the latest instalment of their frenzied parade of bizarre and compelling characters to give us three short and surreal stories, all with punchy storylines to carry them from one devious plot-twist to the next...
BOOTY'S BOOK
Three school teachers find themselves about to be made redundant. Convinced it has something to do with their abnormal appearances they seek out a projector in a hidden realm, in order to change the projection... of their lives.
SOUND VAN
Wilmot Brown lives alone. He collects and records bizarre sounds and makes quite a decent living from it. When Ray Toupee and String, a rival team of noise police come seeking help to find a mysterious sound Wilmot finds himself on an adventure he'll never forget.
Are their intentions honourable? Are they looking to take him down? Are they even human? And will Wilmot's adventure seeking the new sound force him to discover the ultimate sound... himself...?
THE MUGNOG
It's harvest festival and the parliament of Owls are in need of a contribution to their God, Moloch. But when the stump footed head Owl kidnaps a local girl it's clear their idea of an offering is more sinister than a basket of veg. The girl's only hope lies in a compost heap and the thing that lives inside it...
Abandon all previously held concepts of comedy. This breaks all the rules. In a good way. the Grandees will transport the audience back to feeling like children again. You will leave feeling exhilarated, giddy and totally confused. Don't question it. Just go with it.
