The debut solo show from award-winning actor and writer Ed MacArthur, co-creator and star of DugOut Theatre's Fringe smash-hit Inheritance Blues, 'A lot of fun' **** (Scotsman). Mixing an original score with live music and comedy, this one-man play follows Stackard's attempt to discover a lost Amazonian Tribe. But will Stackard find the tribe in time? And less importantly, will he find himself? Praise for previous productions: 'Beautifully executed, with a wonderful score' **** (BroadwayBaby.com). 'MacArthur deftly steals the show ... he oozes confidence on stage' (FringeReview.co.uk). 'Talented musical skills with polished acting' (Fest).

Ed MacArthur is the relentlessly-creative comic mind behind polymath, renaissance man, explorer, and bona-fide idiot Stackard Banks.

In this one-man comedic fantasy - Stackard Banks is Self-Discovered - MacArthur delivers a bombastic swashbuckle over oceans, across continents, through jungles, and deep into remote tribes. With love, murder, discovery and sacrifice by the fistful, this is colonial guilt at its most jovial; a tale of wide-eyed expedition gone terribly, terribly wrong.

With a fast-paced and joke-heavy script, an original score, and live music (all written and performed by MacArthur himself), Stackard Banks is Self-Discovered is a solo debut set to announce MacArthur as a young master of the multi-disciplinary. A brilliant new actor and comedian, MacArthur (as Banks, our enthused storyteller) presents a rich palate of colourful characters, finding his humour in thoroughly unlikely places.

Fresh from graduating from The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, MacArthur takes the relatively unchartered route of premiering his new theatre show as part of PBH's Free Fringe. As a founding member of the critically-acclaimed, and award-winning Dugout Theatre ('This group bristles with talent and stage presence. All of them will make a mark in theatre' Stage), Ed has performed sell-out runs to rave reviews since the company's inception in 2009. As part of Dugout, Ed wrote and performed in the award-winning (ISDF Judges Award for Best Devised Show, Cameron Mackintosh Commendation for Musical Theatre) Inheritance Blues, which will be returning to the Fringe at Pleasance Courtyard, following a sell-out run at the Soho Theatre in July.
