After being knocked up like a 1950s teenager, she missed the festival last year, but now she is back and it's forward march for Shappi. Reflecting on the good things, she celebrates her haphazard, zigzag towards her dreams. She introduces us to friends, family and total strangers who have helped her on her personal Yellow Brick Road. 'She has plenty to say, and says it with pointedness and potency' (Guardian). 'Makes live comedy thrilling' (Evening Standard).

How female comics took over the Fringe

At this year's Edinburgh Fringe there are almost as many jokes about feminism as there are about cats on the internet. Which is to say, lots of them. Bridget Christie, fresh from winning the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award (formerly the Perrier) last year, is back with an hour that tackles female circumcision and the ridiculous sexualisation present even in yoghurt adverts. Sara Pascoe's tour of women in history includes a delightfully sharp debunking of Page 3. Luisa Omielan is packing out a ballroom each night with Am I Right Ladies?!, a raucous celebration in which she sticks her fingers up at issues such as body fascism.

After being knocked up like a 1950's teenager, Shappi Khorsandi missed the festival last year, but now she is back and it's forward march for Shappi. Because I'm Shappi... reflects on the good things, she celebrates her haphazard, zigzag towards her dreams. She introduces us to friends, family and total strangers who have helped her on her personal Yellow Brick Road. Shappi will be performing to audiences throughout the festival at the Pleasance King Dome at 8:30pm.

Best-selling author, television and radio regular, Shappi, who will be performing at her eighth Edinburgh Festival has established herself as one of this country's finest comedians. She's feisty, flirty and effortlessly funny she and handles every subject with a razor sharp wit, softened only by her deliciously dizzy delivery and endless charm.

Shappi has notched up numerous high profile television appearances including; Masterchef 2013 (BBC One), Live At The Apollo (BBC One), Channel 4's Comedy Gala At The O2 (Channel 4 - 2010, 2011 & 2012), Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow (BBC One), Graham Norton Show (BBC One), Friday Night With Jonathan Ross (BBC One), Have I Got News For You (BBC One) and her own Comedy Store Special for Comedy Central. She also had the honour of being nominated at the prestigious 2010 British Comedy Awards in the Best Female Comic category up against fellow nominee's Jo Brand and Sarah Millican.

As a sought after cultural commentator, Iranian born Shappi has also appeared on Question Time (BBC One) and Woman's Hour (BBC Radio 4) as well as penning columns for several national newspapers and magazines including the Guardian, New Statesman and GQ.

Shappi is also the bestselling author of A Beginners Guide to Acting English by Bloomsbury, out now in paperback.
