Scots: Double Bill
Something in it for Cordelia is comic, yet poignant. Joan Ure felt the position of women with acute sensibility. Cordelia wheels her demanding father to Waverley station. In Something in it for Ophelia, Ophelia feels there should be more substance for her than Shakespeare provided. It should be emphasised that both these plays, touching - as they do, with conviction, passion, and sharp insight - the sort of issues we call serious, do so with a continuous play of wit and fun, and often, a truly joyful gaiety.

Two very funny, intelligent and sometimes touching plays gave a new take on two of Shakespeare's more desperate female characters . I was surprised that being written in the 1970s these plays felt very up-to-date and current for Scottish politics.. Also not much has changed for women in the 21st century as Joan Ure's scripts point up with wicked irony. The marquee performance area and the scripts are a refreshing change from the city centre venues.
Excellent acting and great comic timing. For a new take on King Lear, Cordelia and Ophelia I can highly recommend this show.
