The New Wave returns - a compilation of the brightest, most exciting, dynamic and ground-breaking new acts in the country.
Following a second nationwide tour in late 2013, and an ongoing monthly residency in King's Cross, The New Wave is set to further galvanise its status as a mixed-bill show of nuance, innovation, and natural flair.
For two spectacular free shows at the 550-capacity New Empire Bingo, 2014's New Wave is set to provide this years Free Fringe with its triumphant centrepiece.
In recent years Edinburgh's 'Free' movement has gained significant momentum, with hundreds of performers reclaiming the disseminative structures that showcase their work. However, the Fringe has never before seen a free show on a scale as large as this. On the nights of 14 & 21 August The New Wave will be the most talked-about show at the Fringe - a symptomatic realisation of a monumental shift.
The New Wave was launched via a 15-date National schlep in Spring 2012. Previous 'New Wavers' include Edinburgh Comedy Award winner Adam Riches, Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Claudia O'Doherty, star of Sky One's Chickens Jonny Sweet, hugely influential character act Nick Mohammed, and pioneering sketch group Sheeps.
Set to appear as part of 2014's New Wave are Lolly Adefope, Jack Barry, Natasia Demetriou, Oscar Jenkyn-Jones, Mae Martin, Joseph Morpurgo, Twins, Phil Wang & Ellie White, with more TBC.
