Lawyer, author, entrepreneur and TV personality, Nancy Dell'Olio makes her Edinburgh Festival debut at the Gilded Balloon this year with her one-woman show, Rainbows From Diamonds. Her story has been brought to life by the comic/writer Diane Spencer, who helps Nancy reveal her secrets on surviving with glamour. This is a woman who has never let fate smudge her make-up. Witty, fabulous and inspirational, she shares her beliefs on living a self-empowered life.

With unrestrained self-deprecating Italian/American wit, Nancy beliefs in choice in life and living with that - even if your life is in the media spot light. Confessional and inspirational, Nancy will hold court in this entertaining hour where she will lend her passion for life as well as her advice for getting through the dark times, holding firm to the knowledge that the best is yet to come.

No stranger to the front pages following acres of, often speculative, newsprint; few people know the real Nancy Dell'Olio. A fascinating, highly intelligent and enigmatic woman Nancy was born and brought up in New York and Rome and is a true internationalist. Now living in London, Nancy has adopted an English lifestyle that she combines with an Italian style and temperament. As a successful lawyer, she advises clients on business transactions many of which involve public affairs and often bringing people together to form successful ventures.

She supports many charities and holds committed views on politics and world affairs. Focusing on the topics of sustainability, Women's Issues and Leadership, as a speaker she delivers thought leading opinions and views with a charisma that engages audiences and provokes discussion and debate. Among her many commitments are those as Ambassador for 'Vital Voices' the foundation formed by Hilary Clinton, and the Red Cross. She is chairman of 'Truce International' and collaborating with the 'Tony Blair Foundation'. Earlier this year Nancy was made a 'Cavallieri' - Italy's highest civilian honour, for her contributions to the nation. Her investiture will take place in June.

In her 20's, Nancy survived a serious accident that nearly killed her, and later in life she encountered several crises that placed her in the media spotlight, she overcame these challenges with a combination of determination and a positive outlook on life.

Believing that life is too serious to be taken seriously she values her sense of humour which allows her to communicate with people from all walks of life.
