As Kate Bush prepares to give her wildly-anticipated first live performances in 35 years, writer-performer Lucy Benson-Brown brings her own take on Cathy-fever to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

'On the 21st March 2014, Kate Bush announced that after 35 years she was going to perform again. Big news. But then all of a sudden on Twitter all these people were going "Who the hell is Kate Bush? Have I missed something?" And I'm like: yeah pal, you have. I culled a lot of friends that day.'

Cathy is having a crisis. At 27, she's going nowhere, has moved back home, and still can't make peace with her Dad's new girlfriend. So she's venting on YouTube. Through the medium of Kate Bush. Who knows, perhaps she'll get a million hits and be famous? Or not. Just thank God no one is watching. Yet...

A one-woman show with musicality and comedy at its heart, the show recaptures 70s nostalgia for the Facebook generation, and asks how we can ever live up to the dream of our heroes - and whether they can help save us from ourselves. And with tickets for Kate Bush's Hammersmith Apollo shows trading for up to £2,000, Cutting Off Kate Bush may be the next best thing for desperate fans and newcomers wondering what all the fuss is about.

Bringing stadium euphoria to the intimacy of the fringe, the show promises a feast of lycra, chiffon and some epic dance moves. Featuring many of Kate Bush's greatest hits, choreography is by Nadia Sohawon of Olivier Award winners Boy Blue Entertainment, whose credits include choreography for Mariah Carey, Plan B, Dizzee Rascal and the London Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Writer-performer Lucy Benson-Brown's credits include, as an actor, Mogadishu (Royal Exchange Bruntwood), Platform (Old Vic Tunnels/Frantic Assembly) and Warrior (Quaker Meeting House, Edinburgh Fringe). A graduate of the Royal Court Young Writers Programme, her plays include Together Again (Old Vic Tunnels), Man versus The Dress (Wilderness Festival) and #Hashtag (Clwyd Theatr Cymru). The show is directed by former Roundhouse and NYT associate artist Sam Curtis Lindsay.
