James Veitch: The Fundamental Interconnectedness of Everyone with an Internet Connection
Scam emails: distant princes, unclaimed inheritance, close friends marooned in a foreign country. Standard procedure is to delete on sight, but what happens if you reply? Through stand-up, projections and music, the show investigates the nature of scamming, its role in our connected world and why pushing cyber con artists to their limits is so satisfying. Quirky, fast-paced and relatable, a show for anyone with a dream... and an email account. 'A wicked sense of humor. I LOL'd, I ROFL'd, I LMAO'd' (New York Times).

More details
James Veitch has spent the past year responding to as many scam emails as he can. Packed full of Nigerian princes, can't miss investment opportunities and eligible Russian brides, his correspondence leads to surprising, bizarre and usually hilarious results. Excerpts of the emails have been printed by the New York Times.
In 2013, spam accounted for over 60% of all emails and robbed victims of more than six billion pounds. An investigation by Which? found that one in ten people fall victim to scams. The Internet Crime Complaint Center report received 289,874 complaints in 2012. Total loss reported to them was more than 300 million pounds. They absorb our time, sometimes our money. They're a distinctly modern nuisance.
Through his own blend of traditional stand-up, interactive projections and original music, he takes the audience on a journey through the schemes investigating the nature of scamming; its role in our connected world; and his own psyche, as he tries to understand why he finds pushing these cyber con artists to their limits so very satisfying.
Quirky, fast-paced and relatable, Fundamental Interconnectedness is theatre for the modern world; a show for anyone with a dream...and an email account.
