The James Cook three minute interview
This is an interview with James Cook, the stand-up comedian. As he explains on his website, he shouldn't be confused with the explorer, the bass player in the Arctic Monkeys, a character off of Skins, the BBC Scotland correspondent, the Australian Rules footballer, the boxer, the square in Middlesbrough...
Martin Walker, Broadway Baby, 9th July 2014More details
This August, Spike Milligan Award-winning comedian James Cook will transform the whole of Edinburgh into a giant board game.
At the centre of the game will be his new one-man show Always Be Rolling, a hilarious, and sometimes nerdy, journey into his obsession with board games and why he thinks you should be obsessed with them too.
The show features live action versions of classic games (Hungry Hippos and Buckaroo), and advice on ways to 'pimp up' the games you've got lying at the back of a cupboard. You'll never play Scrabble the same way again.
During the show, James will turn the audience into game players and explain how for the duration of the Fringe, all of Edinburgh will be our game board. The game includes hidden treasure, trades and challenges. If you want to know how to play - you'll need to pick up a rulebook at Bar 50, Blackfriars Street at 1pm from July 31 - August 23 (not 12)
Since 2003, James Cook has been a professional stand-up comedian, then a radio presenter, then a stand-up comedian, then a radio presenter, then a bit of both and then a stand-up comedian again.
Earlier this year, James finished 6th in the UK championships of Carcassonne (an obscure German Board Game). He has two daughters, of which only one has their own dedicated board game review blog
James would be lying if he said he didn't have two board games 'in development'.
