Take A Comedian Out

This Tuesday (18th August) sees the one-off event Take A Comedian Out presented at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Hosted by David Morgan, the show is being billed as a 'raucously funny dating game'. Whilst not officially connected to the Paddy McGuinness TV dating programme Take Me Out for copyright reasons, the format is clearly in a similar vein, with the poster, complete with its tagline "let the funny see the business", hinting as much.

Take A Comedian Out will see some 'lucky ladies' from the audience compete for a chance to win a date with some of Edinburgh's finest comedians. Those set to take part in the show include 2013 Fosters Newcomer Award winner John Kearns (will he wear his wig and teeth props?) and the happily married (!) Romesh Ranganathan.

Other acts involved include Iain Stirling, The Noise Next Door, two-thirds of The Midnight Beast, Chris Martin (we presume the stand-up comedian, not the now single Coldplay front man), Carl Donnelly, Matt Richardson, Andrew Ryan, Kai Humphries, Tom Deacon, Dane Baptiste and Javier Jarquin.

The show publicity explains: "Take A Comedian Out sees our sexy, confident comics standing behind illuminated podiums ready for the lucky lady contestant to grill them. See the comedians try to woo the contestant into taking them on a date within four rounds."

Talking to BCG, David Morgan says: "Take Me Out is one of my favourite shows. I can't wait to try not to ruin it by adding comedians. I would love to be able to tell people what to expect but to be quite honest I don't have a clue. There are 25 funny people on stage so pretty much anything can happen. I can promise it will be very entertaining."

Sounds like it should be a good night, and as a bonus all profits will now go to the charity Mind. Organisers CatFace Talent, referring to Robin Williams, explain: "Comedy lost one its heroes and it's only right that we do what we can to help those who may be suffering from mental health problems."

'Take A Comedian Out' will take place at 11:15pm at the Pleasance Courtyard on Tuesday 18th August. Listing
