Once Upon A Nightmare's guide to travelling to fantasy worlds

Once Upon A Nightmare

Once Upon A Nightmare, a comic play at this year's Fringe, is described as 'Labyrinth meets Jumanji meets Shrek'. A dark adventure fantasy for all ages, the show has been devised by Box Step Productions, the creators of last year's five star Edinburgh sell-out Death Ship 666!

Once Upon A Nightmare focuses on Sophie, Andy, Sack Face, Amastris and Enya the Squirrel as they undertake a quest. Sophie is a veteran survivor of travelling to other fantasy worlds, so we asked her for some top tips for getting through such adventures alive:

1) If you want to tell people you travelled to another magical world - don't - not unless you have proof. This may result in a one way ticket to the mental asylum.

2) Pick your other-world posse carefully. My friend Dorothy Gale wasn't so fortunate.

3) Don't make deals with witches and/or evil monarchs.

4) Don't eat/take anything from witches and/or evil monarchs.

5) Saying "there's no place like [INSERT LOCATION HERE]" three times may not always work. Have a back up plan or a designated driver.

6) Wardrobes are sometimes just wardrobes.

7) Wifi is really hard to come by.

8) As a general note, leaders who are on the side of "good" tend to be stupid. Expect to be irritated.

9) At one point you may be handed a weapon you don't know how to use. Don't worry, you'll become proficient in combat within 48 hours.

10) Magic mushrooms are the same in all worlds.

Watch Sophie and her friends in Once Upon A Nightmare at the Counting House Ballroom at 12:15pm from August 2nd - 24th (not 13th). Listing
