2014 Edinburgh Fringe
Dane Baptiste: Citizen Dane
Dane Baptiste doesn't fit in. As a son of Caribbean immigrants who navigated the north/south divide before puberty, he's had a lifetime trying to find a place in society amongst gangs, grammar schooling and strict parenting. In his anticipated debut hour, this original and provocative rising star asks: is there a place for Citizen Dane? Expect razor sharp rants and slick musings. As seen on Seann Walsh's Comedy Spectacular (BBC Three) and Live from The Comedy Store (Comedy Central). 'A unique and engaging comic voice that has the potential to go very far indeed' (ComedyBlogedy.com).

While the natural progression for modern comedians may seem to involve a quick guest appearance on a panel show followed by a five-minute slot on Live at the Apollo, the more informed stand-up enthusiast will know that the Edinburgh Festival Fringe serves as the true comedic testing ground.
Luke Wilson, WOW247, 16th July 2014The Dane Baptiste three minute interview
Dane Baptiste is known for his distinctive stage persona, his brilliant take on all of life's irritations and his phenomenal gift to tame some of the most difficult of crowds. This year he makes his Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut with Citizen Dane.
Martin Walker, Broadway Baby, 11th July 2014More details
Dane Baptiste makes his much-anticipated debut appearance this year at the Edinburgh Festival with his hour long show Citizen Dane to the Pleasance Courtyard. As BBC Comedy's executive producer Rebecca Papworth puts it "Dane Baptiste promises great things - smart, slick & a box full of attitude - with the talent to back it all up".
He doesn't fit in. As son of Caribbean immigrants who navigated the North/South divide before puberty, Dane's had a lifetime trying to find a place in society amongst gangs, grammar schooling and strict parenting. He also has a twin sister...the evil twin. His younger years were riddled with split birthdays, split presents and all round split attention. In this show the original and provocative rising star asks; is there a place for Citizen Dane? This is a beautifully crafted modern day take on young black Britain.
South East London born Dane burst onto the stand up circuit rising quickly up the ranks and achieving notable success in numerous comedy competitions. He is now a regular at the country's most famous venues. He currently stands as one of the only comics in the UK achieving notable success on both mainstream and black comedy circuits simultaneously.
Dane is known for his distinctive stage persona, his brilliant take on all of life's irritations and his phenomenal gift to tame some of the most difficult of crowds. Exceptionally prolific - Baptiste is already being hailed as one of the most exciting acts to break in years. Expect razor sharp rants and slick musings.
He has already appeared on Seann Walsh's Comedy Spectacular (BBC Three), Live from The Comedy Store (Comedy Central) and the Comedy Marathon (BBC Three). His radio credits include Radio 1: Live from the Fringe as well as Phil and Alice Comedy Loz. Writing credits include The Johnny and Inel Show Series 2 (with his own recurring sketch strand) & The Johnny and Inel Show Series 1 (Nominated for 2 RTS Awards).
