2014 Edinburgh Fringe
The Brendon Burns Show
Burns is going out on his own, on the Free Fringe and producing an online series. Warning! May contain material that will never be commissioned and an Arnold Schwarzenegger impression that goes on for possibly 15 to 20 minutes too long. Visit www.thebrendonburnsshow.com.

3 to see ED2014: Free acts you've probably heard of
The Fringe's free show strands are bigger than ever this year, with plenty of great acts to choose from. You get in for nothing, and leave what you think is appropriate in the bucket on your way out. And while there is lots of new talent in the free show programme, don't be thinking it's just newbies. Oh no. Here is ThreeWeeks Co-Editor Caro Moses with some comedy veterans offering pay-what-you-want entertainment this year.
Caro Moses, ThreeWeeks, 1st August 2014Edinburgh preview: Everyone's A Winner
I know that Edinburgh should be about looking forward rather than looking back, but 2014 may be the year that more previous Edinburgh Comedy Award winners are appearing at the Festival than ever before. Of course, there are more Edinburgh Comedy Award winners than ever before, but there does seem to be a plethora of them returning. Is it to cash in on their fame? Is it to show the young whippersnappers how it's done? Is it just sentiment and trying to recapture the spirit they had when it all began? Is it all that and more? Who knows, but here are some famous names to look out for.
Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke, 30th July 2014How to spend £30 at the Edinburgh Fringe
Expensive isn't it, the Fringe? What with those pesky opportunist landlords and those pesky twilight boozers.
London is Funny is sadly unable to intervene when it comes to sweeping rent controls, or alcohol licensing legislation, but LiF CAN help when it comes to having a cracking day of comedy without breaking the bank.
Behold the London is Funny Fringe day planners! (£50 article to come later this week)
London Is Funny, 30th July 2014The Brendon Burns extended interview
Australian born Brendon Burns is one of Britain's most notorious comedians. His act is loud mouthed, clever, occasionally challenging and always funny. You don't so much go to a Brendon Burns show as witness an event. Martin Walker caught up with him as he busily prepares for the Edinburgh Fringe.
Martin Walker, Broadway Baby, 1st May 2014More details
If we were to use one word to describe Brendon Burns' career it'd be "interesting".
This is not your everyday comic. Older, wiser, calmer (And after being fitted with a hearing aid, infinitely quieter) Brendon's energy is still enticing. His turn of phrase is coarse yet oddly eloquent, whilst remaining fully accessible and intensely loveable. Never pompous and ever self-deprecating he just somehow seems to get away with murder. Not so much an "edgy truth-sayer" but a traditionally harmless and inclusive warm-hearted court jester. His influence is ubiquitous throughout the stand-up world. Often replicated but never matched, his shows aren't just extended sets, Burns specialises in creating experiences; forever experimenting with the form and throwing himself new challenges.
And now Brendon is branching out on his own, with thebrendonburnsshow.com. Brendon is looking to write and produce his own online web series on a website entitled, imaginatively enough, thebrendonburnsshow.com: a mix of stand up, sketches and viral videos. Taped during the Edinburgh festival, fifteen to ten minute episodes to be written directed and produced three to four times a week and once a week thereafter. From the Joe Rogan podcast to Funny or Die, the US has shown us that the future of comedy content is online.
Ask around and you'll find every comic on the international scene has a funny Brendon Burns story. A, "They were there the night he..." tale. Sure, he's critically acclaimed, a comic's comic and something of a cult figure. But, above all, he's... well... interesting.
We could bore you with credits:
• Hosted the first series of the 11 O'clock show and had his own show on MTV

Sure he's critically acclaimed, a comic's comic and something of a cult figure. But, above all, he's... well... interesting.
