2014 Edinburgh Fringe
Ant Dewson and Mark Silcox: Life in the Bus Lane - Free
The least ambitious men in comedy present a hilarious new show about honesty, attractive geography teachers (yes, they do exist), party poppers, accidentally burning down your shed when drunk, 50 Shades of Grey (large print edition), musicals and throwing bricks into your neighbour's garden. Mark was a BBC New Comedian of the Year finalist in 2013, but his wife still doesn't know he does comedy. 'Highlight of the night' (Tom Robinson, BBC 6Music). 'Infectious weirdness' (Bruce Dessau, London Evening Standard). **** (Skinny).

The Mark Silcox three minute interview
According to his website, Ex-scientist Mark Silcox works as a supply teacher in secondary schools. He has a 'no nonsense' approach to everything he does which puts off those around him, but he fails to understand why. This is show on the top deck of a bus in the very busy Three Sisters courtyard. I could think of much better places to watch a mix of pithy musical comedy from keyboardist Ant Newson and Asian Comic Mark Silcox's distinctive delivery of almost surreal jokes. The top deck was as packed, stuffy and as uncomfortable as a N26 on a Saturday/Sunday morning, so the novelty of the venue soon wore thin. Plus the sound of the courtyard was also distracting. This is a very funny show in parts but the I'm not sure about the combination of Newson and Silcox brings out the best in both performers. Their choice of venue certainly doesn't.
