From the team that brought last year’s Fringe hit The Inventor and The Escort, comes a sassy and sexy comedy that has already rocked the US and Australia.

Making its UK and Fringe debut, Angry Young Women in Low Rise Jeans with High Class Issues combines stand-up, sketch, theatre and music for a hybrid comedy show that playfully tackles a whole variety of contemporary issues regarding men, women, life, love, getting naked and getting laid.

This fast paced, sell out show has wowed audiences and critics alike wherever it has played (“Pitch perfect dialogue!”- The New Yorker; “Hits the G-spot! A must see!” - Sydney Theatre.net). Now an international cult hit, Angry Young Women… has built audience and critical acclaim based largely on word of mouth since its premiere in New York City in 2006. Since then, it moved to Off-Broadway in 2007, played in Sydney and Brisbane in 2007 and 2008, respectively, and toured to Los Angeles in 2008 before returning to successful runs in New York in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Published by Samuel French, the show, has subsequently been produced and embraced by university theatre departments. Most recently, Kings and Desperate Men Productions (KADM), the company behind the development of the show, has turned Angry Young Women… into a web series, whose first season has already garnered almost 30,000 views. Performers of the original New York, Off-Broadway, and Los Angeles cast, including stars of the web series, will be joining the Edinburgh cast.

Long Island-born playwright, director, filmmaker, and humorist Matt Morillo, the writer-director of Angry Young Women…, has cut his career in the world of independent theatre and film since graduating film school in New York. With several award-winning short and feature length films under his belt, Matt turned to the theatre penning All Aboard the Marriage Hearse, a romantic comedy that challenges conventional notions of the institution of marriage, and American Soldiers a political/military drama that tears open the debates surrounding American values and hypocrisies. Both of these plays are also published by Samuel French and have been produced by US regional theaters, universities, and US Military Veterans. Matt’s most recent play, The Inventor and The Escort won the 2013 Teapot Award for Outstanding Theatre Performance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (“Sassy...undeniably funny...even touching!” - The Stage, Edinburgh).

All of Matt’s plays have been first produced in New York and Los Angeles through his production company, KADM, with producing partners Rich Barbadillo and Jessica Moreno. Immediately following the 2014 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the KADM team will continue to develop original film scripts, plays, and a second season of the Angry Young Women… web series.

Not really funny and no plot or story line. One of the sketches was pretty extreme stereotypical of a nutty hormonal female. Unfortunately it went on a bit and its like the writer had come on an idea and decided to flog it to death! Seemingly they seemed to need to do a bit of gratuitous flesh flashing to make up for the lack of wit ! This was scripted so you would have hoped someone would have given them feedback before it went on the road! I went to see an improvisation (period style) prior to the Angry Women and this beat it hands down...and I couldn't stop laughing but they had natural wit and comic timing!
