2013 Edinburgh Fringe
Hatches, Matches and Dispatches
This is the hilarious sequel to the successful Ne'er the Twain. It is 1924, one year after Parliament has decreed that Edinburgh and Leith become one town. The forthcoming marriage between the Leith McIvor's daughter and the Edinburgh Burns's son is in jeopardy after chaos ensues during the funeral of Nellie McIvor. The situation is not helped by a layabout bookie's runner, a grasping aunt and a grannie with a secret. Edinburgh Peoples' Theatre premiered Alan Cochrane's play in the 1998 Edinburgh Fringe where it won a Fringe First Award and played to full houses.
