Marcus Brigstocke injures leg
Marcus Brigstocke has almost taken that well known good luck phrase 'break a leg' a little too literally.
On Day 2 of his Edinburgh Fringe run, the comedian added another dimension to the surprise ending of his stand-up show by seriously injuring his leg while performing an intricate dance routine.
Je m'accuse - I am Marcus sees the Radio 4 star elaborate on an assortment of incredible facts throughout his life, the most surreal of which involved a short stint as a podium dancer for the Ministry of Sound nightclub (no, really!). It was this particular re-adventure which caused Brigstocke to spend Saturday morning in A&E with a suspected snapped Achilles' tendon.
Marcus says: "I will never stop dancing. Even if I have to confine my raving to arms, head and torso only - if that is what the people want from me then, leg or no leg, I will give them what they want."
Thankfully, the injury wasn't quite as serious as first feared, however Brigstocke will still have to spend the rest of his time in Edinburgh on crutches - which, as anyone who has visited the city with all its hills and cobbled streets will know, should be quite a challenge.
As they say, the show must go on though. You can catch Brigstocke's show daily at Assembly Halls at 9:10pm.
