Judas, haunted by guilt and despair after selling out the Son of God, is in a catatonic state in hell. A lawyer with a grudge against God launches an appeal on Judas' behalf. The case is heard in purgatory, aka downtown New York, 2005. Witnesses include experts (as long as they're dead) from St. Peter to Sigmund Freud. This groundbreaking play, by leading contemporary New York playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis is funny, thought-provoking and ultimately moving. Theatre Oikos' have produced 'an incredible production of a thoughtful, challenging and controversial play' (Newbury Weekly News).
