Mirth of Forth Comedy (MofF), Burntisland's own comedy club, brings the final of Fife's Stand Up Comedian of the Year this year to the Edinburgh Fringe. Fife comics who reach the final will be performing up to 7 minutes of their original material and will be in with the chance of winning £200 in prize money.
The competition is open to anyone with a close connection to the Kingdom of Fife, and was won last year by Tommy Mackay aka The Alex Salmond Gastric Band, a one-time resident of Glenrothes.
As well as running the annual competition, Mirth of Forth Comedy run regular gigs in Burntisland. Acts such as Patrick Monahan, Jo Caulfield and Shazia Mirza have headlined shows there. Sunday evening gigs at The Star pub in the town are very popular both with the residents and with performers, including many of Scotland's established as well as newer acts.
This is MofF's third year at the Fringe, following a lunchtime showcase in 2010 and a double-header featuring Elaine Devlin and Richard Pulsford in 2011, and this year are pleased to team up with The Scottish Comedy Festival to bring this event over the Forth Bridge and into the capital city.
