2012 Edinburgh Fringe
Danielle Ward - Speakeasy / Playdead
Two brand new shows from award winning stand-up Danielle Ward (Mock the Week/New Quiz), writer and creator of Fringe hits Gutted and Karaoke Circus. Speakeasy: An hour of stand-up about sex, politics and the world's greatest Ryan Gosling joke. (Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat). 'Hilarious' **** (List). 'Delightfully naughty' (TimeOut). Play Dead: Extremely silly tales of horror. NB not for people who scare easily or don't like seeing a woman knob about on stage by herself. (Sun/Tues/Thurs) '... silly, sick, surreal or just plain showbiz glitzy. Great fun' **** (Chortle.co.uk).

Award-winning stand-up Danielle Ward returns to the Fringe with two brand new shows, playing on alternate days - Speakeasy and Playdead for the whole month of August.
Speakeasy is Danielle's brand new hour of stand-up, covering sex, politics and the world's greatest Ryan Gosling joke. Playdead comprises four extremely silly tales of horror (NB: not for people who scare easily or don't like seeing a woman knob about on stage by herself.)
As a stand-up comedian & writer Danielle has won the BBC New Comedy Award, Time Out Best Newcomer and the prestigious BBC Writer's Bursary. She is in regular demand as a UK circuit comic, and in 2009 was selected to partake in Last Comic Standing on NBC, which saw her play to a packed house in Miami. She has supported Russell Kane, Russell Brand and Lee Nelson and in 2010 was part of the line up for the Edinburgh Festival Amnesty International Show at the EICC.
Danielle is also a regular panellist on The News Quiz, Dilemma and The Unbelievable Truth (BBC Radio 4) - her television credits include Mock the Week, Charlie Brooker's Newswipe, Newsnight and E4's Comedy Summit. She is the current co-host of The Dave Gorman Show on Absolute Radio on Sundays (3 million downloads), hosts her own Absolute Radio Film Podcast (featuring interviews with stars such as Johnny Depp, Mark Wahlberg and Paddy Considine) and is the writer and host of iTunes comedy panel show Do the Right Thing (nominated for numerous awards including The Poke, NotBBC and Chortle Awards 2012).
Danielle is the mastermind behind sell-out hit live music and comedy night Ward & White's Karaoke Circus, which makes a triumphant return to the Edinburgh Fringe this year. Past shows have included guests such as Simon Amstell, David Cross, Tim Minchin and Jessica Hynes.
Danielle is something of a trailblazer - as a comic & actress she has worked hard to support & reflect the wealth of female talent on the Fringe and beyond in every project she undertakes. She has developed a considerable knack for spotting promising young female talent - Take-A-Break Tales (2006) starred Isy Suttie, now one of the stars of Peep Show, and Emma Fryer, star of Phoneshop, Ideal and Kill List. Psister Psycho (2007) featured Anna Crilly and Katy Wix, an established fringe double act but who both went on to star in high profile TV comedies (Lead Balloon, Not Going Out, Miranda) and are currently filming their first series for Channel 4. For Gutted (2010) Danielle cast unknown West End musical star Helen George as the lead - Helen then went on to secure a fantastic agent and a starring role in BBC1 smash hit Call The Midwife'.
