2011 Edinburgh Fringe
Wendy Wason's Flashbacks
Wendy Wason is relieved she wasn't born in the last ten years. Born in the 70s, a kid in the 80s, a teenager in the 90s and an adult in the noughties seems to have worked out rather well. From the yellowed 70s photos it looks like an ideal babyhood and in the 80s shocking fashion was the norm. Edinburgh in the 90s was a fantastic time and place to be a teenager as the funny and charming Miss Wason will tell!

Wendy Wason Edinburgh blog: who's the real Kunt here?
Is it Kunt and the Gang for their cock-and-balls poster stunt? Is it promoters and venues getting precious about it? Or is it us comics for spending so much on posters in the first place, asks Wendy Wason?

She's eight-and-a-half months pregnant, but the irrepressible Wendy Wason tells Kate Copstick she has no intentions of putting her feet up just yet.
Kate Copstick, Edinburgh Festivals, 7th August 2011More details
Edinburgh born Wendy Wason may well become the first comedian to give birth mid-show, but, chances are, she'd even make that hilarious. Taking to the stage eight months pregnant, Wendy isn't shy about opening up to an audience. Flashbacks, her third solo Edinburgh Festival show, is her most personal yet, as she guides the audience through her life so far and proves that getting older is the best thing that can happen to a person. Youth is for the young, but great sex, a sense of self and the confidence to flick the Vs at life's bullshitters are the rewards of age.
Oozing charm and with a decidedly naughty twinkle, Wendy is a natural and engaging performer. Flashbacks is a tour through her life so far, from being a kid in the 1980s, discovering boys in her teens and reinventing herself at university, before becoming an adult and all the stresses that entails: marriage, kids, divorce and finally getting to grips with being yourself.
Before turning her hand to stand-up comedy, Wendy was already known as a consummate actress. In 2000 she played an obsessive Bill Hicks fan in Brit-flick Resurrecting Bill and her impressive CV includes roles in Taggart, The IT Crowd, Midsomer Murders, Coupling, TittyBangBang and even a turn alongside Johnny Depp in the film The Libertine. In 2008, she took part in hit NBC show Last Comic Standing.
Later that year, Wendy made her Edinburgh solo show debut with the very well-received Things I Didn't Know I Didn't Know, following up on the show's success in 2010 with her second full hour Wendy Wason In Other People's Secrets. However, her first real turn at the Fringe was in 2001 when she starred in Trevor Lock's play What You Really Want, alongside Sarah Kendall and Phil Nichol.
She grew up in Edinburgh (though now lives in London) she even worked for a couple of years at the Gilded Balloon's box office, Wendy's actually been an Edinburgh Festival stalwart for more years than some of the young comic bucks out there have been alive. As Flashbacks sets out to prove, it takes someone who's lived some to have any kind of decent - and funny - musings on life. Sexy, sassy and a proud gob-on-a-stick, Wendy Wason's got life experience in bucketloads. Prepare to be very amused.
