A new play by prizewinning playwright A.S. Zelman-Doring. Three master improvisers find themselves at crisis point, arguing about the nature of theatre. After a near break-up, they decide to improvise one last time: a fierce impromptu encounter ensues, as the poet Rilke meets the painter Cézanne. To Hold an Apple was selected by the Academy award-winning playwright and screenwriter Christopher Hampton (Dangerous Liaisons, Atonement) to be performed in the Oxford New Writing Festival 2011 to critical acclaim: 'Simply brilliant' (Oxford Theatre Review). 'Infinitely more light and life than in your average over-earnest avant-garde performance ... Superb' (Cherwell).
