2011 Edinburgh Fringe
Pushing Up Poppies
A dark comedy set in the trenches during the First World War. Four men are left standing. Men who are weary and traumatised. Men on the brink of insanity. Men who can hardly remember their own names. As one day merges into another, they try to find new topics of conversation, in an attempt to distract themselves from the living hell they are trapped in. Family. Death. Boredom. Sex with vegetables. Cannibalism. Sleep. A revolt of the menservants' union. The imaginary death of a great poet. Will they survive? Or kill each other before the enemy do? Performances on the 5th, 6th and 7th August have been cancelled.
