I hate to be bitchy, but those other Edinburgh Fringe comedy awards - the ones that used to be called the Perrier Awards, which seem to have had almost annual name changes since then and are now, it seems, forever to be called "the former Perrier Awards" - well, Perrier must be laughing all the way to the bar... they no longer have to fork out any money but they still get their name splattered all over the media every August, associated with youth-attractive comedy...

A two hour comedy show celebrating the godfather of alternative comedy. In previous years, the show has been Pick of The Fringe for The Times, Time Out, The Scotsman and The List. The word "bizarre" is likely to be an understatement.

This year's show will be compered by Miss Behave, star of Olivier Award-winning show La Clique, with assistance from the Third Reich's favourite crooner Frank Sanazi.

Performers on previous years' shows have included Jo Brand, Jimmy Carr, Omid Djalili, Janey Godley, Hattie Hayridge, John Hegley, Richard Herring, Jools Holland, Phil Kay, Stewart Lee, Simon Munnery, Phil Nichol, Arthur Smith and Johnny Vegas.

The Malcolm Hardee Comedy Awards will be announced during this show: they have been running since 2005 and will be presented until 2017. There are currently three annual awards:

- The Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality

- The Malcolm Hardee Cunning Stunt Award
(for best publicity stunt promoting a show or act at the Edinburgh Fringe)

- The Malcolm Hardee 'Act Most Likely to Make a Million Quid' Award
