2011 Edinburgh Fringe
Josie Long: The Future Is Another Place
Josie Long is back again with her fifth Fringe show. Come along! This is a show about feeling newly tormented by the world around you and about optimism and despair. But that sounds more serious than it is. It'll be a silly, manic round up of all kinds of things. It will probably have a play in it where I play every one of the Bronte's too, if that's your bag? The show has two clear aims: 1. Fight some sort of a cool gang or something. 2. Fight injustice.

Fans of Josie Long's likable on-air persona and extensive indie-pop t-shirt collection may be blissfully unaware that she's also a soapbox-mounting Tory-bothering political firebrand.

It seems a long time ago that Josie won the Perrier Newcomer Award back in 2006, and things have only gone upwards since then. She's won and been nominated for loads of awards, she's whirled around the world with sell-out tours from New Zealand to New York, she's released a DVD, she's put on charity benefits, and she's done fantastic things like recording her own radio series and stuff.
But in this, her fifth Fringe show, she reveals that not all is wonderful in the whimsical world. This is a show about feeling newly tormented by the world around you, and about optimism and despair. But, don't worry, that all sounds more serious than it is. It'll be a silly, manic round-up of all kinds of things. It will probably have a play in it where she plays every one of the Bronte's and, of course, the show will have two clear aims: to set up some sort of cool gang or something, and to fight injustice.
Josie has appeared at various international comedy festivals from Melbourne to Montreal, toured four solo shows nationwide, sold out shows in LA and New York, and has numerous TV credits to her name; The Bubble (BBC2), 8 Out of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Never Mind the Buzzcocks (BBC2) and You Have Been Watching (Channel 4).
Her second solo show Trying is Good was released on DVD in 2008, her 2009 show All of the Planets Wonders (Shown in Detail) became a Radio 4 series, and her last Edinburgh show Be Honourable! was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award and went on to tour to sell-out audiences. Josie has also written for and appeared in Channel 4's esteemed teen drama Skins.
