A shadowy threat known simply as "The Limit" is having a range of disturbing effects as it advances across Britain. A fervent amnesiac has come back from The Limit set on spreading god's word to the masses - just as soon as he can remember which god. A 'modernist' vicar is questioning his faith as The Limit turns the world inside out. With his friend, a psychiatrist with predictable mother issues, he sets out to uncover the mystery behind The Limit. On their way they encounter the outrageous Liberal MP Mary Plimpton, who is in Parliament's well-appointed doghouse for tabling a motion that Nick Clegg be recognised as a puffin fucker. Determined to foil their efforts is a young alternative 'healer' who has diagnosed a man with an irreversible case of having a spleen for a face. And the psychotic inconvenient continues to take a twisted pleasure in causing mild inconvenience.
What is The Limit? Who is responsible for its effects? Why can't you see the ground when you yawn? All these and more will be answered in Flood.
