US comic Danny Bevins brings his brand new solo show Danny Bevins - Infectious Waste to the Edinburgh Festival for its premiere outing. Danny has spent the last 17 years using his humour to start trouble in every comedy club in North America. Now this unwanted pregnancy, former soldier and son of religious fanatics explains why the human race is just infectious waste.

He was a member of the US army - in the show he will tell the story of how the army changed him, saved him and almost killed him. That is no joke! He will also talk about observations of his life, including that time he was kicked out of church. Danny is a man that loves contradictions and brutal honesty; he loves how life as its core is a tragedy - from conception to death. Doomed from the beginning, it's all a matter of timing.

Danny says: "I love contradictions because I am one, actually more than one. I am the product of an unwanted pregnancy which is in itself a contradiction. You can't get pregnant without having unprotected sex. So as soon as you enter or are entered, you have consented to the consequences. You have signed for the package whether it be an STD or a foetus. So what is unwanted? The responsibility! But that's not why I was unwanted, my parents didn't mind holding the bag they just couldn't afford it. And they couldn't get rid of it because it was against their religion. So religion saved my life and I have shown my gratitude by spending my life showcasing it's flaws and duplicity. I would eventually, at the tender age of six, be kicked out of church for asking a question. Which is what happened to Jesus. He was also an unwanted pregnancy although back then they referred to it as an immaculate conception. Talk about a euphemism. But it doesn't stop me from loving church and especially their picnics."

Danny is the winner of the 2000 San Francisco Comedy Competition and made his international debut at the 2003 Cat Laughs Comedy Festival in Killkenny Ireland. Danny has since appeared on Comedy Central Show Premium Blend, was a featured comic on The World Stands Up and performed at the US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen for HBO.
