Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Carl Donnelly (as seen on Mock The Week, Dave's One Night Stand and Russell Howard's Good News) returns to the Fringe for his third solo show. Join him as he adjusts to life without his trademark hair and tinted glasses for what promises to be an hour of hilarious tales and unbridled silliness. 'His introductory preamble is funnier than a lot of acts' main shows' (Comedy.co.uk), 'Impossibly effortless' (Fest), 'Hilariously silly' (ThreeWeeks), Excellent, fast-rising comic with pacy anecdotal routines' (Sunday Times).

Carl Donnelly ditches his trademark look for his show

Comedian Carl Donnelly spoke to STV about his new Edinburgh Festival show Carl Donnelly 3: Carl Donnelier!

STV, 15th August 2011

More details

Truly one of the UK's most up and coming comedians, Carl Donnelly returns to the Fringe with another year's worth of tales of idiocy that critics and audiences have been flocking to see all over the UK. Two years ago, Carl was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer, and this third solo show proves he is already one of the UK's finest.

This year, Carl explores the struggle we have to not be self-conscious all the time. Should it matter what people think of you as long as you're not actively going out of your way to upset people? We should accept who we are and worry less about what people think. Therefore, Carl's going to be treating his audiences to some novelty dancing.

Since last August, the TV offers flooded in and Carl has appeared on Mock the Week (BBC), Stand Up For The Week (CH4), Dave's One Night Stand (Dave) and The Comedy Store Live (Comedy Central). Previous television credits include Russell Howard's Good News (BBC), Grouchy Young Men (Comedy Central) and That Was the Noughties (BBC3). Well, there's just too much to mention these days so visit Carl's website to see the rest...

Carl has toured with various comics from Russell Howard to Rhod Gilbert and was the first ever comedian to support a DJ when he opened for DJ Yoda on a string of high profile shows throughout the UK. He's performed at all the international prestigious festivals from Melbourne to Sydney to Kilkenny, and his regular podcast with fellow comic Chris Martin was listed as one of the Guardian's top ten comedy podcasts. Carl is a regular guest on Back End of Next Week (Five Live) every Sunday.
