This was without question a well crafted and delivered ensemble performance. The young end energetic cast brought a contemporary realism to the 2011 adaptation and was both entertaining and revealing of the current attitudes to binge drinking and sex amongst some of our young population. The monologues from 'Lucky Eric' showed the pathos of his situation and an insight into both his own and the lives of the clubbers he encountered; There was one moment when describing a the sad, drunken, sexual fumblings in the alleyway behind the club, some audience members were heard to laugh whilst many including myself saw the seedy, sadness of the situation and felt genuinely disturbed.
The music soundtrack was well chosen and effective especially the Arctic Monkeys songs. The cast movement between gender roles was slick, seamless and well choreographed.
We chose to attend this production because my son had studied it for his GCSE Drama module a few years ago and we were familiar with the work. We all really enjoyed the production and hope it may tour at some stage.
