Baz looks back on the first 50 years of his life and realises a third of it has already gone. Join him for a reminiscent ramble as he relives the orotund odyssey that began in 1935. He remembers Adolf Hitler, Greta Garbo, Harold Macmillan and other drinking companions. Relive with him the General Strike, the Second World War and Ant and Dec. Few of his contemporaries can recall so much or are even still alive. This saga has been described by one critic as 'The Chronicles of Hernia'. Note: Not suitable for anti-semantics.

When Richard Herring met Barry Cryer

Does Barry Cryer need an introduction? He's a familiar face from TV, a familiar voice from the radio, and he's written comedy for most of the big comedy names of the last half century (and more) as far as we can tell: Morecambe and Wise, The Two Ronnies, Richard Pryor, Les Dawson and Tommy Cooper, to name but a few.

Richard Herring, ThreeWeeks, 11th August 2011

Baz looks back on the first fifty years of his life and realises a third of it has already gone. Join him for a reminiscent ramble as he relives the orotund odyssey that began in 1935. As he enjoys his anecdotage, he remembers Adolf Hitler, Greta Garbo, Harold Macmillan and other drinking companions. Relive with him the General Strike, the Second World War and Ant and Dec. Few of his contemporaries can recall so much or are even still alive. This saga has been described by one critic as "The Chronicles of Hernia". Less of a stand-up comedy show, more of a sit down chat with the comedy legend whose CV ranges from writing for Dave Allen, Stanley Baxter, Jack Benny, Rory Bremner, George Burns, Jasper Carrott, Tommy Cooper, Les Dawson, Dick Emery, Kenny Everett, Bruce Forsyth, David Frost, Bob Hope, Frankie Howerd, Richard Pryor, Mike Yarwood, The Two Ronnies and Morecambe and Wise, to having a number one hit in Finland in 1958 with The Purple People Eater.

He's been on I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue on Radio 4 since 1972 and is still trying to understand the rules.
