Take a chance on Alfie Joey's one-off, one-man Comedy Musical, Monopolise on Monday 22nd August in the Pleasance Courtyard.
With a sprinkling of Fred Astaire and Mel Brooks-style numbers and a dash of Rat Pack seasoning, this is a musical -suitable for all the family, which promises thrills and silly spills.
Monopolise is a murdourous tale, in which a cavalcade of comic characters are unleashed, all played by Alfie Joey, host of BBC Newcastle's breakfast show and star of all seven series of BBC3 sitcom Ideal, with Johnny Vegas.
Alfie, who has written for Jason Manford and shows such as 8 Out Of 10 Cats, co-wrote and performs Monopolise in this, his fourth Edinburgh Fringe show.
In a celebration of musical comedy, Alfie sings and dances through a joyous hour, with a dark but humourous twist.
Alfie Joey biography
Alfie Joey is a comic writer and performer, currently hosting the breakfast show on BBC Radio Newcastle. As an actor he has appeared in Coronation Street and has played Derrick in all 7 series of Johnny Vegas' cult BBC 3 sitcom, Ideal.
Known for his impressions and vocal dexterity Alfie was in the Sony nominated ]Moths Ate My Dr. Who Scarf and has been a regular character comic on Radio 4 alongside John Bishop & Mitch Benn. Alfie has also written a play (Glen, Gary, Jonathon Ross, performed at the Manchester Comedy Festival), a sell-out Edinburgh show (Alfie Joey's Mini Cabaret) and co wrote and directed Laurence Clarke's Edinburgh Fringe show Jim Fixed It For Me.
He has twice been nominated for a Chortle Comedy Award and has performed comedy in all leading stand up venues in the country as well as performances in Dubai, Singapore, China and South Korea.
Alfie has written material for other comedians including Jason Manford, has contributed gags for 8 Out Of 10 Cats (C4) and wrote continuity links for and was the voice of the Paramount Comedy Channel (2007-9).
