Keith Farnan: Sex Traffic - How Much Is That Woman In The Window?
Following the sell-out success of Cruel and Unusual and No Blacks No Jews No Dogs No Irish, All Welcome, Keith Farnan returns with a unique stand-up show exploring how we value or devalue the women in our lives. This year saw the Women's Movement celebrate its 40 year anniversary. It also saw a high-class escort unmasked as a cancer research scientist who turned to prostitution when she couldn't get funding. Keith Farnan asks have we learned to value women or simply put a value on women?

Keith Farnan tells us why he has decided not to break with Irish tradition and recommend his favourite Edinburgh drinking hole, Under The Stairs as his Secret Edinburgh.

Sex Traffic is the latest show from critically acclaimed comic Keith Farnan whose shows Cruel and Unusual (about the Death Penalty) and No Blacks. No Jews. No Dogs. No Irish. All Welcome (about racism and fascism) proved Keith to be one of the most thought provoking comedians around. Both shows went on to have sell-out runs in the West End after selling out their Edinburgh runs and Keith is still performing Cruel and Unusual today, it's just that damned good.
Do we value women, or do we just put a value on them? In Sex Traffic, Keith looks at the rise of sexism in everyday life and explores the idea that all women may be in danger of being trafficked in some way. In a year when a Doctor in cancer research revealed her identity as an upper class call girl, is it surprising that professional women are being made redundant and finding they have become full time mothers by default? What does it say that the people of Iceland have turned to a woman to clean up one of the greatest economic disasters of modern times? Where in the world are women valued? Scandinavia - yes. Saudi Arabia - no. Ireland - we try.
Formerly a solicitor, Keith has performed as a stand-up all over the world, from the Boston International Comedy Festival to Hong Kong to the Middle East. His debut show Cruel and Unusual, a comedy show against the Death Penalty in America, garnered much attention from media and punters alike at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and went on to become part of the Royal Festival Halls Xmas Festival in London as well as the N20 Comedy Festival and lead to him becoming a regular on BBC Radio 4's Loose Ends. His second show No Blacks. No Jews. No Dogs. No Irish. All Welcome went on to sell out its run at the Soho Theatre. A regular at prestigious comedy venues such as London's Comedy Store and Dublin's Laughter Lounge, Keith's television credits include One Night Stand (BBC) and Liffey Laughs (RTE) and he has written for and performed in The Insomniac Club for BBC Radio.
