Helen Keen's award-winning space-based show (soon to be a BBC Radio 4 series) relaunches! With a meteor shower of new bits, a cosmos of costumes and approximately 99 feet of tinfoil. Come join her whistlestop tour around the great brains who put monkeys, ladies, dogs and gentlemen into orbit. 'One of the most consistently intriguing young comics around.' (Guardian); 'Wonderful imagination... it's one of the most original shows on the Fringe.' (ThreeWeeks); 'Part way between the Royal Institution Christmas lectures, 'QI' and some dodgy 60s Czechoslovakian children's animation... aptly enough, a blast.' (Chortle.co.uk).

It Is Rocket Science! debuted at the 2008 Buxton Fringe where Helen's whistlestop tour around the Great Brains who put monkeys, ladies, dogs and gentlemen into orbit, sold out and won her the Buxton Festival Fringe Award for Best Comedy Performance.

From there she took the show to the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. With a tiny venue paid for by months of temping, a set home-made from tinfoil and paper-mâché, and a rather esoteric theme, It Is Rocket Science! attracted unexpectedly large and enthusiastic audiences.

In 2009, the 40th anniversary of the moon landings, the show toured the UK with great success, taking in and frequently selling out comedy festivals, major music festivals, science festivals and even three performances at London's Science Museum - including a show in the famous Space Gallery beside actual space craft. And, in 2010, BBC Radio 4 commissioned Helen to write and appear in a comedy series based on the show, which will be recorded later this year.

This brand new version of It Is Rocket Science! mixes fresh material from Helen's upcoming radio series with props, audience participation and shadow puppets, for a joyful exploration of stargazing, space-racing, the boundless possibilities of an infinite universe (...and temping).

Helen was a finalist in the 2005 Funny Women competition and the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year competition and has been nominated for the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year award. She won the first Channel 4 New Comedy Writing Award in 2005. Since then she has written for, among others, Channel 4's Friday Night Project and BBC Radio 4's The Now Show and is currently developing scripts with BBC3, Channel 4 and BBC Radio 4.
