Radio 4 Flashmob
Last Sunday the crowds on the Royal Mile witnessed a comedy flashmob. Organised by Radio 4 to promote its forthcoming Edinburgh Festival-related comedy programming, a team of comedians lead by Mark Watson burst out of an alley to surprise the crowded street with a one-off comedy experience. The comedians taking part alongside Watson included Stephen K Amos, Janey Godley, Paul Chowdhry, Andi Osho and many more. Standing on soap boxes laid out in the shape of a '4', the comics all performed three minutes of stand-up at the same time. It made for a hectic, funny and highly noticable few minutes.
Radio 4 have produced a highlights video of the stunt - check it out below.
Following the flashmob event, Radio 4 setup a stage to provide the Royal Mile audience with a packed programme full of comedy performances. Hosted by Miles Jupp, those appearing on the stage included Abandoman, Doc Brown, Andrew Lawrence, Richard Herring, Tom Wrigglesworth, Susan Calman and the Just A Minute team.
Stephen K Amos presents a special Edinburgh Festival comedy programme on Radio 4 at 6:30pm tomorrow (Thursday 19th) which will feature some of the acts, and video highlights of the stage show will be made available on both the red button and web next week (keep an eye on comedy.co.uk for the video). In the meantime, here's the video of the comedians storming the street...
