A car manufacturer has given two stand-up comedians a car to drive from London to Edinburgh with the twist being that they must complete the journey using just one tank of petrol. It's all in aid of Helen & Douglas House - an Oxford-based hospice providing care and support for children and young adults.

Citroen has given fresh stand-up talent Dan Adams and Christian Ancliff one of their DS3 car models to drive between the two capitals - a journey of over 500 miles - with stops along the way for performances in Oxford, Stratford, Manchester and Glasgow.

When they reach Edinburgh, Adams and Ancliff will then be performing for the first time at the Fringe in a show titled Baggage of Being. Christian says: "It's our first Fringe appearance, so understandably we're fantastically nervous and very excited at the same time. Trying out our show material right across the UK during the tour is giving us a great warm-up, and a brilliant experience." Dan, who admirably has remembered they're also supposed to be plugging the car, adds: "We're testing our humour against the public and Citroën's technology against the elements. I only hope we can match audience laughs per gig with DS3's miles per gallon. This is a terrific adventure for a very worthwhile cause."

At the time of writing, the duo have just completed the 215 mile trip between Manchester and Glasgow and are due to set off soon on the final leg of their journey towards Edinburgh, arriving in time for their first Fringe show on Friday at the Globe (Niddry Street, 4:45pm). It turns out the petrol saving part of the trip perhaps might not be a tense end to the journey one might have expected - they've still got more than half a tank left, despite covering half the distance.
