Quote: DaButt @ October 31 2008, 1:06 AM BSTObama's campaign accepts checks from Osama bin Laden.
He has a checking account? So all we have to do is find the address they send the statement to...
Could work.
Quote: Nigel Kelly @ October 31 2008, 1:10 AM BSTObama seems fairly likely to be President, DaButt.
Possibly, but polls showed Bush losing days before the 2004 election. No matter how it turns out, it'll be close.
I think this quote puts the so-called "landslide" into perspective:
"This is an amazing race. The incumbent president has approval ratings somewhere between Robert Mugabe and the ebola virus. The economy is supposedly on the brink of global Armageddon. McCain has only $80 million to spend, while Obama's burning through $600 mil as fast as he can, and he doesn't really need to spend a dime given the wall-to-wall media adoration.. . . And yet an old cranky broke loser is within two or three points of the King of the World. Strange."

(VERY good point to the whole quote though.)

Sadly though it probably says more about the American electorate than about Obama.
Yeah, it's sad what gets called a "landslide" these days. Two or 3 points are plenty. In my mind it'd have to be 70-30 or better.

Sadly? I like to think of it as more along the lines of "You can fool some of the people some of the time." ALL POLITICIANS ARE SLIMY LIARS and I'm glad people see them for what they are.
Have you decided who you are voting for yet? And you don't have to tell us as its a secret ballot but give us a clue, say (for example) Is he Caucasian?

I voted (and told BSG) last week. I didn't vote for Obama.

Just one more reason why I will never understand Texas. You're some of the nicest people I have ever met but you're populations hate on for anything but far right Conservatism is beyond me.

One week from now: Watch the election results for Texas, consider the personal observations you've (almost certainly) made about generalizations and stereotypes and then take a look at your statement and see if it holds up as a modern, open-minded assessment of reality.

I'm not being closed minded I'm stating a fact. When was the last time Texas voted anything but Republican? The 70's? Plus it looks like its still McCain in the lead for Texas.
And it doesn't look like the way you voted is a good example for changing my mind.
I know you guys have your lefties, I've seen concert footage of South by Southwest concert Maaaan I wish I could go to that concert! Looks rocking!
But ignore me, I'm Canadian and as John Stewart said our Conservative Party is more like conservative-light, or what he more eloquently called "Gay Nader Fans for Peace."
As for Obama's spending I don't see a problem. He's playing by the rules in an ancient electoral system. Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of our system but the Collage System is problematic at best.

You can complain when the state votes 100-0 instead of 52-48 or whatever. I'm not ashamed of my vote and, to be honest, I don't care what any American or foreigner thinks about it. I'm a citizen and my vote was carefully thought out.

Well yes, but not all politicians are slimy far right liars who happen not to be black, which was the gist of my remark.

Good for you (honestly), I don't care what any 'foreigner' or Canadian for that matter thinks of my vote either. But you also made a statement that I didn't think was correct and so I responded with my opinion.
If it makes you feel more on equal grounds:
I voted Liberal a few weeks ago.
I voted Green the time before.
I voted Liberal back in ummm 2002 I think?
Provincially I've voted Liberal, Green and NDP.
Hope that clears the air yaaaaaay new emocons!
EDIT: I just checked dude! The vote was 61% for Republicans and 38% for Democrats in Texas. That's pretty big. Plus the Libertarian's 1%
