I must admit I had trouble just with his "trendy but too old" looks until I saw Freak Like Me in which we find out he isn't all that old, and he's got a whole hive of ticks and habits, sort of a gentle OCD in wheels really...I like him a lot better now, probably I feel like I know him more.
My first impression of Russell Kane was I wouldn't like him - proved to be spot on. How did he win that award? Obviously keeps any funny stuff for when he's not on telly.
Loved Beyonekane on Let's Dance. He/she was absolutley fabulous. I got all confused fancying a man dressed up as a woman, he was hot!

The whole 'Lets Dance' thing is obviously set up to make Russell Kane win. They spent more time on him than the other contestants.

Like Robert Webb doing Flashdance, it was great to see comedians show their talents. Katy Brand and Jo Brand were brilliant to. It's fun, and as mentioned, it's for charity, good on 'em I say.
Just happened to catch him on Live at the Apollo last night (hosted by Sarah Millican - brilliant by the way!) and he has gone up enormously in my estimation.
When I first saw him a few years back I wasn't impressed at all, but last night's routine was new, clever and very funny...........see, us old farts are not all Ken Dodd et al and not find anything new funny. 
Something and nothing - the bloke with the fag in his mouth is Russell's late father, or as he called him "The Silverback" - 100% body building right wing brickie sometime model, from a 1970 magazine
