How to write scenes that are different years....

I'm writing a scene at the moment which is set in the 70's, I want it to then fade into a scene from the present day.

How do I write that?

Would it be:

Scene 1. Int. Michael's Office. Day. 1975

then

Scene 1. Int. Michael's Office. Day. Present Day. Continuous

Something like that, please do let me know.

I guess just write it exactly how you want it to look. So if you want it to fade into then it might be something like this:

Scene 1. Int. Michael's Office. Day. 1975

Stuff happens

FADE INTO: Int. Michael's Office. Day. Present Day.

That's a better way, thanks.

It used to be standard practice that scenes ended with

CUT TO

so you just put

FADE TO

instead at the end of the scene.

In practice, it ain't your job,..it's the job of the post production video/film editor, so all you really need do is ensure that the slug lines for the scenes include the location and the date.
