INT. STUDIO
PRESENTER IS TALKING TO CAMERA

PRESENTER:
Hello and welcome back to what has been Britain's most succesfull Olympics ever (PAUSE) and the best bit? we are still only half way through the second week. We must pay tribute to Lord Coe and the London Olympics committee who have worked so hard to put their stamp on this Olympics, campaigining so brilliantly to make sure some of the lesser known events make it to the world's biggest sporting stage. And now we are just about ready for the 100m final.

CAMERA CUTS TO TRACK AND GOES ALONG THE LINE OF ATHLETES INTRODUCING THEM. THE ATHLETES TAKE TO THEIR BLOCKS

OFFICIAL:
On your marks (PAUSE) set

GUN SOUNDS AND THE EIGHT ATHLETES BURST OUT OF THE BLOCKS ALL CARRYING SPOONS WITH EGGS ON.

COMMENTATOR:
Its a Slow start for the British athlete and the American is going well. But, oh no whats this! Steve Perry of the United States has tripped, the american athlete has tripped leaving Matt king of the UK to take the lead. This is a magnificent performance, we are watching an athlete in his prime. After a slow start its going to be King, king, King!

THE BRITISH ATHLETE CROSSES THE LINE

COMMENTATOR:
A great performance by Matt King winning his fourth medal of the games having already been crowned champion in the 110m hurdles sack race, the 4x100m three legged race and the greatest prize at the olympics the 100m while balancing a beanbag on your head.

ENDS

I know this is screaming for an 'egg on your face' pun, but I thought better of it.

It's a nice idea but it's one joke that could be many. How about incorporating the other primary school sports day events? Sack race? Three-legged? Toss the beanbag? I'd have these in the sketch as visual gags rather than an afterthought tagged on the end. Maybe even the athletes get a bottle of milk with a straw after their event, and a gold star stuck to their chest. Maybe you have one athlete who stands there crying because he's too shy in front of all the people, only to have his Mum come and comfort him. Maybe two athletes get into a fight and have to sit on the naughty step.

Just seems a rich vein of Pythonesque comedy is going unplundered here.

Also the opening commentary is too long.

Great idea though, I liked it!

I like this nice and simple. Funny as well.

I'd like a twist punch. Chinese athlete with giant thumb to hold egg in place?
