Favourite Female character

This isn't the same as the sexiest female character, although there maybe some cross over. It's about your favourite female characters in sitcom. I'll go for a top 3.

Barbara & Margot - The Good Life.

I couldn't separate these two. They were wonderful characters, Margot, the controlling snob and Barbara, the anti-female with fantastic wit. Females often seem to be background characters and when they do lead, they aren't always well written. These two are incredibly well written and acted and never appear inferior, Margot just wouldn't let that happen! They are funny too, which is important.

Isa - Still Game.

I love Isa, she rarely fails to make me laugh. She's a fantastic background character, one of my favourites and she has great chemistry with the others, especially Winston and Navid. She'll occasionally come out with something crude and uncharacteristic that makes me laugh.

Nana - The Royal Family

She's a great character, probably the best in the show. She's so realistic and very annoying, yet funny with it. The fact she carried the Xmas '06 episode shows the confidence they have in the character and the actress, the wonderful Liz Smith.

There are lots of other good ones. I like Dinnerladies, but don't think there is a stand out character. Marlene from OFAH & GGG is good. The Birds of a Feather girls also. The nan from Early Doors is another good one. Maggie in Extra's is good, although she doesn't get the funny lines, she tends to be the butt of the joke. Susan from My Family is similar to Margot, a strong female influence who takes no rubbish. Dorothy and Debra from MBB are good characters, but take a real back seat. Lots, lots more too.

Discuss.

i'd have to go for denise in the royale family, victoria wood in dinnerladies, and hyacinth from KUA

Polly in Fawlty Towers.

Daisy - Spaced
Maggie - Extras
Sophie - I'm Alan Partridge
Dawn - The Office
Denise - Royale family

I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of.

Daisy - Spaced
Dawn - The Office

I thought about Dawn, but she never really had a lot of lines or said anything particularly funny. She was a good TV character mind.

I love Margot!!

Daisy in Spaced
Fran in Black Books
Caroline in Green Wing (most of the time)
Maggie in Extras
Lynn in Alan Partridge
Jill in Nighty Night

and Bernice, Pauline and a myriad of other female characters in The League of Gents.

I will have to go with Elliot in Scrubs-although I can see far too many of her bad traits in myself, Green Wing's Caroline-sometimes as zooo said-other times I just want to hit her :$ and hmmm Margot of The Good Life-shes just so prim and proper, the obvious springboard for comedy

Without doubt, Nana - The Royal Family. I moped around for days when they kill her off, even clung on to the hope they may bring her back in family video form. But she gone, I’ll just have to get used to it. :( :( :(

Can't really fault Gabrielle from George and the Dragon. If there was ever a female character who didn't take any shit, it was her.

Ooh! Maid Marion from And her Merry Men!

I'd have said Hyacinth Bucket as she really is hideous - and you've probably seen or known one like her.

Daisy - Spaced
Caroline - Green Wing
Elliott - Scrubs
Dr. Liz Asher - Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
Geraldine Granger - Vicar of Dibley
Patsy Stone - Absolutely Fabulous
Queenie - Blackadder
Maggie Habib - The Thin Blue Line

how did I forget Queenie?! ah and the lovely Maid Marion! hmm living up to my name

Marian! Marian!

>_<

Im sorry...it didnt look right when I wrote it either...
