Tim Minchin

I know he's not British but I can't stop watching this guy since I saw him in Edinburgh. He's a bloody genius http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78XrI_2bPVA&feature=related

Moved to Foreign forum. There's probably already a thread on him. But he's fantastic, so I'll let it slide. :)

Hopefully going to see him at the end of November in southampton :)

Saw him at the latitude festival this year. He followed another brilliant act - Carey Marx. Best 'double bill' of comedy I've ever seen. Minchin was fantastic: supremely talented musician, intelligent, entertaining and very very funny. although Carey Marx was the first stand to make my stomach spasm with giggleitus.

Tim Minchin is good, but I must admit I prefer Mitch Benn from our good old own shores:

If it's the same guy, I thought Tim Minchin was very good on the Radio 4 show Mark Watson Makes The World Substantially Better.

His voice is incredible too.

I've noticed you talk a lot about people's voices, Tom.

I like to imagine you spending your spare time tape recording old men talking in pubs, then going home to sit naked on a speaker stack vibrating with pleasure at their gravelly timbre.

:D

It's funny, I DO think I have a thing for voices. Both singing and spoken. And in comedy it's vital the voice sound right.

Minchin's singing voice is quite brilliant, I think.

Liverpool's own Mitch Benn.

Comedy songs = Sick

These Minchin songs are both ace:

Very funny, but he's also a superb pianist (he's quoted as saying he's a 'hack pianist' who just practiced lots. Christ, he's very good if that's the case)

His voice has a really nice unusual tone to it.

AND he has cool hair.

If you're a shit musician, yeah.

Bailey is magic, Minchin is quite brilliant.

Mitch Benn is just a bit crap.

No, that's someone different again... Tom Basden that was. See Comedy Cuts for more of his work.

Actually, I'm not really a fan of comedy songs either, but Mitch Benn did come up with some really good ones, on The Now Show, and his own show, Crimes Against Music, on Radio 4
