British Comedy Guide

Where to go with a comedy drama..?

My first episode of my comedy drama/sitcom is all but done :) well I say all but done, its end is in sight but I've no intentions on sending it anywhere until the begining of next year.

But been thinking, where do I go with it?

Do I send it out to the obvious sitcom production companies or hunt those that indulge in comedy drama, or both or what?

Any thoughts?

Errr

I would contact the production companies that 1. produce comedy-dramas and 2. produce comedy-dramas that are similar to yours (if applicable).

They are most likely to pick it up as they'll have a track record.

Also, it is a long shot but go on IMDB and get some names of producers who have produced comedy dramas that you have enjoyed and try contacting them directly. A long shot i know, but we need to take every opportunity available to us, they can only refuse to read it. You might strike it lucky.

Send it to Craig Cash's Jellylegs Production Co in Manchester

Didn't think they accepted unsolicited scripts?

Maybe not

Many thx, one & all :)

The IMDB idea is as ever worth a shot, as I guess will Jellylegs n' such likes.

Would you bother sending to sitcom production companies?

Dunno, as such as Babycow for example.

Here's a list of places to send unsolicited manuscripts.

Since been intouch with Baby Cow...

they've come back saying that they would consider a comedy drama 'although comedy drama is commissioned in 30 minute slots only very occasionally'

That'll do for me!

I assume you're saying that they'd prefer comedy dramas that are 1 hour lomg.

Comedy dramas are usually 45 - 60 minutes long.

Yeah, they say the norm' being 1 hour.

Interestingly they also said I can send in the whole scripted episode, not just the first 10 pages, which contradict what they say on their website 'a ten page extract'.

???

Full scripted episode it is then!

:)

Cool. Good luck with that. :)
