Here's a sketch, don't know if it's funny

MEDIA MAN

WE ARE AT THE LOUVRE LOOKING AT THE PYRAMID ON THE DA VINCI CODE TOUR. A YOUNG FAMILY HAS GATHERED TO LOOK AT THE PYRAMID WITH THEIR CHILDREN. MEANWHILE THERE IS SOMEONE WITH A CAMERA (MEDIA MAN) TAKING LOADS OF PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE PYRAMID (THE FATHER'S NAME IS DAVID). THE CHILDREN ARE THOROUGHLY ENJOYING THEMSELVES.

DAVID

"Look at the pyramid, that's where Mary Magdaline is."

KIDS (amazed)

"Wow"

MEDIA MAN IS TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS, DAVID INTERRUPTS HIM.

"I see you're taking photo's, this stuff is fascinating isn't it?"

MEDIA MAN STOPS TAKING PICTURES

"What is?"

DAVID:

"I mean I know that Mary Magdaliine isn't really buried there but all this stuff about symbology and forgotten theories is amazing, I never really thought about it much until Da Vinci Code came out, i've been reading all sorts of stuff about religion and history now."

MEDIA MAN:

"It's all a sham, there is nothing plausible in any of those theories. The Catholic church is a disgrace, the secret societies don't exist, it has been proven time and time again that the whole thing is a hoax.

DAVID:

"I think there may be a lot of forgotten knowledge in history."

MEDIA MAN:

"Ha ha, is that how you set out to present an argument? Why are you saying such a thing when you don't have any evidence to back it up. It is insulting to speak to you when all you do is make inane obvserations, I'm media man, i know everything."

DAVID:

"Then why are you taking photo's of the pyramid if you think it's rubbish?"

MEDIA MAN THEN DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY AND FACES THE KIDS

"My advice to you is to give up now. You can't possibly understand the subtle details of these things and say it is possible without looking at the evidence. You are being brainwashed into thinking the world is one way when it is another thing."

THE CHILDREN BEGIN TO CRY, WITH THAT MEDIA MAN SNATCHES THE KID'S ICE CREAM AND WALKS AWAY. DAVID IS STARING AT HIM DUMBFOUNDED WITH HIS MOUTH OPEN SHAKING HIS HEAD.

MEDIA MAN MUTTERS TO HIMSELF WHILE WALKING

"Know nothings".

COMING SOON, MEDIA MAN AND THE EXPERTS.

Your formatting is dificult to read.

The idea that a credulos idiot believes that stupid book is a good one, as is the guy knicking the ice cream.

But between the two is a lot of dry exposition and it's a bit of a gag vacum.

Sorry i'll rewrite, was writing it like a book, i'll put the titles in, one sec.

Just the character names before speeches would be nice.

Good idea but try and get some banter in there.

I've changed the format and i've shortened some of the sentances, I think the sketch heavily depends on the actors, it would be good with the right actors I think, but i'm not an expert or anything haha.

The point is that all the 'experts' are ruining the fun, it is a stupid book but it is entertaining to people and has got people talking about religion, a subject that had been thought to have been dead socially.

I'd be careful over relying on actors.

A suggestion would be to contrast rumours with real things that the Church did.

e.g. the Spanish Inqusition, attempting to assassinate Parliament, and child abuse.

I think if you contrast the two you could get a real edge.

Thanks for the comments sooty.

I hoped this would raise a smile, it was a dig at the media sometimes treating people like know nothings and children. I was also making a point that most people don't study everything in the media or sometimes people know about things and the media thinks that they don't. Sometimes the public don't want the media's criticism of things all the time.

Thanks for the advice sooty. I'm going to use the 'Media Man' analogy for a few sketches.

Maybe make him like a kind of sarky superhero with cape and stuff?

Captain Sardonic, or Bleeding Obvious Man?

Good idea, I prefer Media Man so that the public just call him that (they don't understand the media you see according to some people, don't get me wrong on this one) it's a dig purely at the media and another name will not be obvious that it is.
