Recorded For Training Purposes (Series 3) Page 5

One could argue. Send your sketch and let them worry about if it fits the brief or not.

Danny has done a couple that really do fit the brief. But it's all a bit formulaic to my mind. Nevertheless, his sketches are good. Pity he has been banned.

I used the method approach.

Isn't radio communication? A spoof radio news link?

Modern communication though?

Modern communication though?

Yeah I don;t know. :( Radio is a modern as a platform announcement I guess.
Frankie's probably right, publish and be damned. I just thought I'd use some old stuff rather than do any thinking.

And why was Danny banned???

What are we looking for?
As in previous series, sketches about modern communication. Whether you talk about the method or the content, that's what it's about. Things that seem to work include
·Parodies of genres rather than specifics (so: arts programmes rather than simply Imagine or The South Bank Show).
·Thinly-veiled attacks on recognisable celebrities/personalities (eg, politician/journalist Boris Moron; dandy TV presenter/stand-up Danny Vain)
·Jokes about communication and communicating - eg email, messageboards, SMS, Blackberry, stadium/transport announcements, voicemail, podcasts, and so on

Some ideas of mine: Troll, blog, spamming, trojan horse, ROFL, lurking, phishing, computer virus, I'm feeling lucky, blog and downloading, bump, poking, favourites, forum, thread, thread hijack, attachment, bulk email, service provider, platform announcement, etc

Some good ideas there alright. :)

And why was Danny banned???

Dunno mate. He hasn't mentioned why in his JM emails.

Did he write a party political broadcast for the Labour party or something?

I can't imagine Danny doing anything that would result in a banning, unless it's a spoof?

He asked Aaron to ban him for a month. :)

Is he a bit like that boss of F1 then?

:)

See, I'm at a disadvantage here. I don't know what some of these things even are.

Troll? Not billy goats gruff I guess?
Trojan horse? I can probably guess.
ROLF? Australian artist and presenter of veternary based programming?
Phishing? Former James Bond going to the loo?

I'm too old for this shit.

Rolf's ROFLs
Rolf Harris takes us on a journey through the web's funniest messageboard posts! With hilarious consequences!

Isn't the brief for this pretty much the same as Play and Record?

All the briefs seem the same: "new, fresh, different, topical, modern" "...and of course gut punchingly funnneeeee!!!" "So now you've got 5 minutes to prepare and let's have a full script, production company in the wings, and the critics already screaming that you're a hit, oh and maybe you can wipe our ass for us too while you're down there.."

"Ooo look there's Jenny Saunders.. oo, lub you Jen.."

<gritted teeth> I don't know. I didn't get the brief for Play & Record.</gritted>

Frankie's probably right, publish and be damned.

The problem is you only get three shots to hit the target.

I have a few sketches in my back catalogue around TV art shows and newsreaders, which kind of fit the brief, but I don't imagine they want too much of that sort of thing, and none of them is exactly snappy. I have come up with a few new ideas, but are, for instance, newspapers, modern communication?

I suppose the answer is to come up with some sort of Venn diagram of funny, short and relevant.
