I'm really not sure I grasped what they were looking for.... I did three sketches:

1) HR automated service that was a very unsympathetic robot

2) A news report on dating agencies that through lack of communication were mismatching dates.

3) A man collapsing through sheer boredom at an art musuem when receiving info through headphones.

Does this sound like anything they might use??? I'm getting so confused!!!

They sound roughly in the right area. I think they probably got LOTS of automated answering services. The mismatching dates sounds like it might not be quite their thing but you never know and the art museum one sounds like the right area again but they go for 'high energy' sketches and one about dying of boredom might not be quite right. Still, fingers crossed eh?

You didn't happen to see any of mine pop up did you?

1) Continuity announcer about globe-trotting comedians

2) Continuity announcer about what was coming up, with a little snippet of each one (there was something about Mariah Carey and Hitler in there)

3) 2 people doing an internet quiz

Cheers

No, sorry.

Don't get too disheartened, there were LOTS of entries and still a large part of the shows are written by the in-house talent.

I get the impression that the producer is going to try to give feedback to as many as possible, even if it's in bulk and it seems likely that he'll keep the names of the people who showed potential but didn't get in this time.

Ah. We noticed you shot off a bit sharpish before we got a chance to ask if you were coming to the pub. Looks like you chose the right recording, everyone there had surnames starting with B, C or D. Mine starts with W!

Yeah, sorry about that. Didn't mean to seem rude, but I really did have to dash ASAP...!

Many thanks for the report back on the recording.

I'm off to the non-comms meeting but - damn - have a surname beginning with an early letter of the alphabet and don't recognise any of the recorded sketches listed. On the plus side, I sent in my sketches with a writing partner, so fingers crossed it had his surname first on the credit...

None of those sound familiar I'm afraid. Oh, and I don't think (3) is cheeky at all, it's a fine idea that's worked for me in the past. To be honest, I suspect you should probably have aimed for about six rather than three (give them the option of not liking a few and still having the option of a runner).

Non-commissioned writers were only permitted to submit three sketches.

I think he meant six mini-announcements packaged up as a runner. I think one page of six one-line announcements would have been allowed as a single sketch, I don't think they'd have been so strict as to disqualify their other sketches if someone did this.

This ^ you could have got away with a package of related one-liners such as announcements as one of your sketches.

Generally even stage shows mix and match between similar ideas in runners and they don't get 4,500 entries to choose between.

Well they may not use all 6 of your one-liners but I doubt they'd disqualify you for sending them in as one sketch.

To be honest, I doubt they'd disqualify you for accidentally sending in 4 sketches. The 3 sketch limit is probably just to keep the amount of reading down.

Well, I guess I should have put more shop announcements in, but I feared it was cheeky, as I said. ... so therefore, I kept it as three. :)

All three WHOLE sketches (Fish Out Of Water/Wind Up Radio/Shop Announcements)I sent were all different lengths and different styles, as I figured it would be a better "calling card" to use variety. :)

Someone said earlier that, at the recording night, AB C and D peoples sketches were recorded. Could it be that they have not yet reached my surname letter of J?

Lets hope so Mr. Jackson.

Oh great (he said sarcastically). That means I won't get my sketches in until the last episode.

I don't know how far through they got, I just know I was sitting with others who have came through the Sketch Factor comp to RFTP and they were all BCD names and had some of their stuff in whereas I'm a W and was warned that none of mine would be in that recording.

I am an F and Afinkawan has told me mine was in on Saturday, so that fits the early alphabet theory. I also had the email last week so I guess if you didn't get emailed you probably didn't get in Saturday's line up, but I also guess they have other people to email this week before the next recording (especially with a lot of high quality stuff to go through). So, wait and see I think.

Hey Badge does that mean you and I get to meet at HWH this Friday?

I believe so Mr Griff.
