Recorded For Training Purposes (Series 3) Page 17

Afinkawan, I was at one of the p and r recordings. PM me a list of what you sent in and I can tell you if they recorded one of them in that session.

And if someone who's going to the first RFTP recording session can report back to everyone else on what got used that'd be great! I can't go on the 13th as have other plans that day. I'm going on the 5th of Jan recording if anyone I know oh-so-vaguely on this website wants to meet up and say howdy.

Play & Record won't even say if any of my sketches made it to the running order, which is annoying as there were a couple I sent them which I actually wrote for RFTP and if P&R don't want them, I could send them to RFTP instead.

Me and my writing partner were in the same boat, i.e. sent a couple to P&R that would have been perfect for RFTP. Serves me right for not going to the P&R recording I suppose...

I'll be going to the Dec 13th recording (and probably the other two as well) so I'll try to remember to make a list while I'm there.

Well no one told us about the p and r recordings, did they? I was a bit jammy in getting a seat. Good show, btw.

And back to RFTP: cheers in advance Afinkawan for any reporting back.

As an ex-RFTP commissioned writer, I'd quite like to visit a recording. Do I e-mail the team to see if I can sneak on the production list, or will they think I'm a cheeky bastard and send me packing to the BBC tickets site???

Just email them.

Damn, well done in getting commissioned in the first place, Pripyat. I got nowhere in that Beeb competition.

Yeah, why not email them and ask for a comp. Politely of course. I've done it a few times and as far as I know they didn't think I was too cheeky (little prehaps, but I always got the ticket).

Well I've been non-commissioned on all three series and I just email my script editor and ask to be put on the guest list.

Which reminds me, I must do that. I completely forgot when I emailed him yesterday.

JC, right (not that I know him or plan on emailing him. No, really, I don't)? Think I've seen him across a crowded room looking very writer-y.

And he's written for Shaun the Sheep. Hurrah!

Jesus Christ! Presumably he's able to turn one idea into 5000 sketches, so a pretty savvy bit of recruitment. Also no need to e-mail him as you can just send a quick prayer (although not sure how speedy the Heaven equivalent of an internet service provider is)

Crikey - you've been non-comm all this time? That's quite a surprise...

Yeah. I was a finalist in the sketch factor thing but ended up in the 'almost but not quite commissioned group'. I was sending stuff in, bumped into James at a recording and got some advice. Adam said he wasn't quite ready to commission me for series 2 but wanted me to come to the writers meetings. Then he said he'd commission me for series 3 but buggered off instead!

Annoying but a lot less pressure than being commissioned!

Conversely, I was commissioned for series one and two, but crumbled under the pressure. Plus, as a filthy plebian non-Londoner, I didn't get to many of the recordings/meetings or invariably arrived in a blazing mood having just endured Midland Mainline's wonderful 'service'. The last one I went to I left my notebook on the train, so I'm afraid, folks, the greatest sitcom in the history of world broadcasting is lost forever, probably lodged in lost property next to a load of MoD flash drives and Home Office laptops.

You should have had my spot mate....

NEWS: The new series starts on Thursday 8th January at 23:00.

I think I'd have the worst time making the meetings. :(
