Lads mags & celebrity mags

I was in a small shop yesterday getting my groceries, and was astonished to see they had a wall given over to magazines almost completely filled with lads mags and celebrity rubbish. Anyone here buy them?

I've never bought a lads mag in my life (too old, probably). Nuts? I can't imagine there being pictures of testicles in it, why not call it Boobs instead?

As for the women's mags, I've seen cover wording as follows: "My baggy vagina has had a nip and tuck" (full story & pictures inside?!) and "Shame down below: cursed between the legs" (I didn't dare find out what this was).

I think people must be a bit desperate to read something. :S

I used to read Loaded and FHM, when they were funny and ironic.

Loaded was for a brief period a sort of cerebral Viz.

Then gave up.

I read SFX, Deathray and BIzarre.

Bizarre tells me all I need to know.

At least till it became nothing but fetish, porn stars and transexuals.

I have enough of that in my daily life.

I used to buy Dr Who magazine in the early 80s, and have bought SFX on occasion, but I find it get through it pretty quickly, there's not a lot in it that is of interest.

I wonder how there can be such a market for all these lads mags & the women's titles, and the celebrity rags? There's so many of them, surely the market can't support them all. Amazing really.

I only really buy Viz and Private Eye, both of which I've read avidly for 20 years. There's nothing in lads mags to interest me, really. If I want to see pictures of hot women (and who doesn't from time to time) there's the "Who do you fancy" thread. Everything else I could possibly want to read about (films, technology, even celeb gossip) is done to death in the newspapers these days, or I can look it up on the Internet. Although I am tempted to subscribe to Mustard magazine though, I enjoyed the one I read.

I know that at least one member here reads the female's Bible that is Heat. Gawd only knows the attraction...

Nuts & Zoo seem nothing more than pervert's training manuals to me.

Of course I also read Viz it's still got many gems.

I used to read Whitedwarf, go on take the piss.

Both used to have ace joke pages and pub ammo bits.

But as they're designed to have 15 words to a picture, I could scan them in Smiths easily enough.

I can't be arsed with that shite. I hate the Lads Mag generation. Bunch of cocks. And celebrity gossip?! F**k off!

There's celeb gossip and celeb gossip. I don't really care if Posh has bought a new hat. But I loved all the sordid details of the Ronnie Wood scandal. That was hilarious.

Some of the gossip mags have accidentally hilarious stories.

Born with out a vagina, I nearly spent 45p on that one.

Best deal she'll ever get.

Laughing out loud

I used to like the ridiculousness of Loaded and FHM used to have some nice articles. Then, one day, I realised that every issue was exactly the same, so stopped buying them.

I read Nuts and Zoo in the barbers, though.

Loaded used to have some good writers back in the day and I always enjoyed Office Pest. Is it really still going?

Yes! And it's £3.40 an issue!

My fiancee buys a lot of magazines.
They range from lady fashion magazines (Chatalaine, Oprah, Cosmo) to trashy celebrity magazines (In Touch), to political mags (The Economist, Harper). Those examples were by just stretching my neck and looking at what was just on the coffee table sitting in front of me.

To be fair she also reads a lot of books, essays and reads all day at work because she works for the government.

My favorites are science mags and comic book mags.
