I think if you stall and correct it quickly, the examiner will let you off. But I did not and made a bit of a mess of the whole thing.

I bet s/he'd never heard such swearing.
He actually gave me plus points on my creative use of language!

I doubt that many Americans take their test in a vehicle with a manual transmission. It might explain part of the discrepancy in pass/fail rates.
Better luck next time!
Cheers DaButt!

But if you pass your test in an automatic you can never drive a manual car.

That's more or less what I said earlier, but may apply only to UK.
It's relatively new. that rule didn't exist way back when I took my driving test. There were very few automatic gearboxes back then.

There's no such rule here. But if you get a concealed handgun license in Texas and take the shooting test with a revolver, you're only allowed to carry a revolver.
I doubt that more than 5% of passenger cars sold in this country are equipped with manual transmissions. They're not very well suited for constant stop-and-go driving conditions like we see at rush hour in cities (I learned that lesson the hard way when I bought a new car in Los Angeles 15 years ago) and they're also a pain in the butt when it comes to hilly/mountainous terrain. Even high-end sports cars are coming equipped with automatic transmissions these days.

Then you're sitting in the wrong spot Da Butt. Is this how you got your nick name ?
Had my Paypal account suspended as somebody in Barquisimeto, Venezuela had tried to hack into it.
Sorted very quickly by them after I had sent a copy of my driving licence and a changed password, but it makes you wonder how the hell these people get as far as they do with their attempts.

FFS. So you can only kill 6 people instead of 50.

They're probably lurking on here now.

So it was you! But I thought you lived in Surreyish?
So after three years of fighting, the airfield society gets a grant at the end of October to maintain its historical importance. Great. This follows on from various attempts by dodgy others to ban dog walkers and cyclists from it, prevent historical days occurring there at the last minute and even to temporarily erect a fence to stop the use of authorised walk ways. Now, just three months later, the main building burnt down on Thursday at 11pm in "mysterious" circumstances. Well, one moment like that is very unfortunate but a pattern is not coincidental. Just five years ago, the historical building of the local asylum (was) burnt down in "mysterious" circumstances in pouring rain, making way for a big housing estate. I had my eye on what was occurring in the sky in the early hours in the middle of last week. I was awake, I had the kitchen curtains open and I could see what was hovering on the horizon for hours. That blimp or whatever they are called was not being manned by just a clumsy Joe Public. And nor was the bloody noisy helicopter flying everywhere locally last night.

It's because loading/reloading/operating a semiautomatic handgun is a bit more involved than firing a revolver. And 50 is quite a stretch.
The murder rate for Texans with concealed handgun licenses is probably less than the murder rate in the UK.
It's hot and humid again. I should have taken my pillow to work and slept under my desk- at least it has air conditioning.
